Regular Submissions

Our regular submissions are always open and always free! We pay $200 for short fiction and $100 for flash fiction. Submit flash, short fiction, and craft pieces. More information and guidelines are to be found on our submissions page.

CRAFT Flash Fiction Contest
2019: September 1 to October 31

The 2019 CRAFT Flash Fiction Contest is open to original fiction up to 1,000 words. Three winners will be selected by guest judge Benjamin Percy, with $1,000 awarded to each. Winners will receive publication, a craft book bundle from Rose Metal Press, a micro-interview with our flash section editor, and a written introduction by the judge. Bonus editors’ choice round, too!

CRAFT First Chapters Contest
2019: June 1 to July 31
Judged by Naomi Huffman of MCDxFSG & FSG Originals

The CRAFT First Chapters Contest will be awarded in January, 2020 for the winning first chapter(s) of a novel or novella in progress and/or unpublished. Three winners will be selected by guest judge Naomi Huffman, with $2800 and agent review by Samantha Fingerhut of Compass Talent awarded. The first-prize winner will also receive a full manuscript critique of their unpublished novel/novella from The Artful Editor. Winners will receive publication of their excerpts with a written introduction by the judge. Learn more here.
